Friday 6th May - Wednesday 25th May 2022

Platform Gallery

The exhibition is a showcase of individual pieces of work depicted in embroidery, textiles, bead work , mixed media and two collaborative pieces

Stitch-in-9 is a group of textile artists formed in 2006 whose members have roots in the North-East of England. The group meet regularly to discuss upcoming events in the textile world, to share their work progress and to support one another.

Visiting textile artists are often invited to the group to share their knowledge and to encourage further experimentation amongst the members, deepening understanding and exploring the world of thread and fibres.

Each artists work has their own style and they work in their preferred medium, ranging from beading, felting, machine and hand embroidery to the use of unusual materials - all the time trying to expand their expertise and to push boundaries. They regularly exhibit their work in venues across the North East, usually included in these exhibitions are pieces of collaborative work. For this 2022 exhibition there are two such pieces. A fabric panel comprised of eighty eight 8” squares, individually embroidered in 2020 but never exhibited, and the ‘“Pandemic Book”, all pages created by individual members, completed during the last two difficult years.
