Planes, Trains and Country Lanes - the art of John Hunter

Saturday 1st April - Wednesday 12th April 2017

Aviation, portrait and rural studies

An exhibition of watercolour, Gouache and Pencil work covering Aviation, portrait and rural studies

An untrained artist, in John’s 'previous life’ he was a respected Head of Music and Performing Arts for three decades and a well-known solo and group performer – and can still be heard entertaining around the Dales with his jazz piano skills.

From drawing planes at a very early age, John continued the aviation theme when some of his work was used by the RAF for promotional purposes, leading eventually to full membership of the Guild of Aviation Artists.

John has exhibited annually with the Guild at the prestigious Mall Galleries, London since 2002, and around the country at various locations.

In demand for commissions ranging from pencil portraits, loved vehicles and buildings to rural scenes and illustrations, John is renowned for his intricately detailed pencil work of almost photographic realism, and his beautifully designed ‘montages’ featuring colour and monochrome.

This is John’s third one-man exhibition, and he is shortly to have work displayed at the RAF Club in Piccadilly, London.

John will be in residence at The Station most days during the exhibition and will be pleased to chat to visitors about his artwork.
