An exhibition of oil paintings inspired by the rivers and reservoirs in Nidderdale
Sarah’s work reflects the rural location she lives in. The seasons play a big part in her work, whether it be big brooding skies over reservoirs in winter, the bluebells in spring, dappled warm light filtering through trees or the autumn colour of tree lined river banks. She works in a traditional way, collecting reference in the landscape and expanding the ideas back in her studio.
This collection of work reflects her daily walks, many revisited locations such as Gouthwaite Reservoir, Scar House reservoir and the section of the Nidd which runs between. She strives to create an atmosphere, a feeling which is more than representation with a contemporary edge. Her work has been described as being gentle, reflective, and serene.
