An exhibition of seascapes, landscapes and coastal scenes in acrylic

Clare finds inspiration from nature and her love of gardening. She particularly likes exploring textural work, using her own handmade paper, dried seeds, petals and any other material of interest. A lot of her work is made using acrylic and inks which have a looseness and unpredictability. She particularly enjoys using palette knives and fingers to create her meadow paintings.

Ailsa has always held a deep fascination for the sea, with its ever changing moods & colour. There is an unexpected excitement in its ceaseless energy which she feels compelled to paint. Her paintings are somewhere between contemporary and traditional, based on detailed observation, but also in trying to convey the spirit of the sea as the last wilderness. Recording the moods of the sea is a constant challenge, and she always wants to remain open to the possibilities of experimentation with different mixed media.
