Botanical, Treasure and Landscapes - Collaborative Art

An exhibition of Cyanotypes, Mixed Media and Prints

Collaborative Art is a partnership between two long time friends, artist Jean Hardy and photographer Malcolm Noble.

Jean is a practising mixed media artist, avid crafter, and teacher, and Malcolm is a professional photographer. They live and work in the UK, in the beautiful North East of England.

The sharing of ideas and practice can be of great benefit to artists as opposed to working entirely on their own, hence the name Collaborative Art. Combining the ideas and practise for both of them creates a different approach and perspective on their combined work.

Currently they are often involved in working with an alternative although very traditional photographic process, called making Blue Prints or Cyanotypes, which dates back to early 1800. Their journey today starts on their walks with their dog Monty, where they collect feathers, leaves and other suitable objects. They then use chemicals, beautiful papers and sometimes fabric to make their stunning originals and prints.

Jean also creates colourful mixed media artwork, incorporating her own original designs alongside other materials and often introduces stitching using a beautiful old Singer sewing machine dating from 1895.
