Moods of the Moors - Kathleen Rusinek

A continuum of natural change reflected in the flora, fauna and seasons of the North York Moors interpreted using the medium of acrylics in the for of fluid art.

Kathleen's work reflects the colours and vibrance of the moors. As nature is unpredictable and variable, fluid art is an ideal medium to represent this.

Kathleen was born and brought up on her parents farm in Castleton. The North York Moors was her playground where she was inspired by the great diversity of landscape with its wide sweeps of open heather moorland, ancient trees and woodland rich in wildlife. The tranquility and clear unpolluted air became for her a place of artistic inspiration to produce pictures using the abstract painting technique fluid art. Free flowing acrylics, powdered pigments and inks have been her chosen medium in producing artwork to reflect the changing seasons in this treasured landscape.

Changing seasons reflected in the flora and fauna of the North York Moors. The artist David Alfaro Siqueiros first refined the technique "as accidental painting" in the 1930's. Siqueiros fell in love with the aesthetics, but the underlying science sustained his enthusiasm. Kathleen's exhibition captures the unpredictability of nature, this is very pertinent to the age in which we are living. Fluid art as a medium emulates this unpredictability producing an outcome that is both beautiful and unique.
