IMPROVEMENTS TO THE STATION DUE TO GET UNDERWAY
This year The Station celebrates its 15th birthday, with the historic station building reopening in November 2007 as the vibrant community venue you see today.
The Richmondshire Building Preservation Trust (RBPT), the charity who own and operate The Station, is embarking on several projects throughout 2022, to update and improve the facilities on offer to the public:
- From Monday 6th June work will begin to fully upgrade and refurbish the main toilet facilities at The Station. This work is scheduled to take approximately four weeks, with temporary toilet facilities in operation during this period. Access to the toilet facilities in the Artisan Gallery, and the Mezzanine Gallery will be unaffected.
- Later this year The Artisan Gallery will be refurbished, with new flooring and decoration set to update this space.
- The Station’s south facing windows, including those in the Townsend Suite are scheduled to be replaced during the summer months and glazing panels above the Cafe will also be replaced.
- In early summer the flooring in the Café | Bar will also be updated. This is due to be done in phases so the Café | Bar can continue to operate with minimal disruption.
There will also be further investment in improving the visitor experience, including changes to our volunteer station, a permanent heritage display, and updated signage and improved facilities for walkers and visitors with dogs. These projects follow on from the full refurbishment of The Station Cinema Box Office which was completed in February, after RBPT acquired the Cinema.
