Keeping you up-to-date
The Station is delighted to announce initial plans for a new future for our restaurant space (formerly Seasons).
The excitement begins this weekend (5-6 May), when we will be holding a pop-up picnic for our visitors. Set out in the space will be tables at which our customers can consume food and drinks from our independent food retailers – The Angel’s Share Bakery, Richmond Brewing Company, Archer’s Ice Cream – or alternatively eat their own picnics, taking in the atmosphere of the building, appreciating the art and joining in with The Station’s Tour de Yorkshire celebrations.
As soon as possible, as a short term arrangement, we will be opening a coffee shop serving scones, cakes, savoury snacks as well as a variety of hot and cold drinks. The coffee shop will be open from 9am – 5pm.
Looking to the future, the restaurant will be run under the direct control of the Richmondshire Building Preservation Trust, with professional advice to assist.
James Gravenor, Director of Finance of the Trust, says: “Although there has been some disruption, which has been beyond our control, because of the sudden departure of Seasons, this now gives the Trust an opportunity to take better control over the catering at The Station to ensure that we provide a good quality service, higher levels of customer satisfaction, and cooperative working between the Station staff, volunteers and tenants to provide an enjoyable experience for all our visitors.”
Eileen Halliday, Manager of The Station says, “I would like to say a massive thank you to the community and visitors who are continuing to support The Station through this short term situation and hope that this support continues whilst we move forward to develop the space and catering facility within the building. This will endorse and complement the existing Film, Food and Art ethos, and encompass the Heritage and Culture which is inherent to the way this community building works.”
